Exploring

The Giant Revolt turned out to be a great bike for this kind of riding. At the time I chose a solid middle of the range option with the right level of durability for rides to work, but I found out this was way too much bike for that. Now, I was all over the mountains and trails and my ride was in its element. It wasn’t so expensive that I was worried about every little component, in fact, I kind of beat the crap out of it. But, things weren’t wearing out quickly either. The wheels took some serious abuse from frequent rock strikes that probably would have cracked a fancy carbon rim. And the tires lasted a silly amount of time before needing replacement.

I probably should have prepped more on these early rides. I researched the routes well enough to get myself in just the right amount of trouble, but I didn’t bring much more than my water. I was really lucky, I never got stranded with a flat, injury, or technical problem. Now I have a compact set of tools, co2, a patch kit for punctures, and other emergency supplies.
